“Tag, you’re it” type questionnaires seem to sweep the blogosphere every now and then. I figured, why not one by Jobacle.com! We’ll keep it career-related, brief and fun!
Some bloggers talk about their “real” jobs – others don’t. I encourage everyone who has a blog or a Web site to post the questions below and insert their own answers. Our careers all have ups and downs, and when we share the ride with the world, everyone sees that they are not alone. Give your readers some insight into your career – it’s good karma! Copy the questions and answer them on your blog. Please try to link back to this original blog post and let’s see if we can get something going! Drop me a note at JOBACLE AT GMAIL DOT COM or leave a comment below and we’ll get you a link on Jobacle.com in return. Now all about me, Andrew G.R.
Career Questionnaire 1
Worst Boss
This nameless boss was your classic passive-aggressive control freak. She let let emotion dictate everything she did. Hated by almost all but revered by management for working long hours and being a “true team player” – aka – she had no life.
Best Boss
That’s a toughie. My previous boss at FOX definitely had some issues but him and I always got along. He was good at what he did – and I respected that. However, the nod goes to my current boss who gives me a nice long leash. Of course, this is subject to change so check the blog daily!
Most Innovative Colleague
Big ups to Eric S. Him and I worked at MTV Networks together and the dude always has good ideas. The big boss men always hold him back, but eventually he’ll snip the anchor and cash in. I just hope he takes me along for the ride.
Most Rewarding Task
My career has been filled with a lot of positive moments (though this Web site is fueled by the bad!). I always get the most joy out of seeing a project through from start to finish – especially when it’s something new that I get to finish – and then watch it run!
Best Item You “Permanently Borrowed”
If you’ve ever listened to the podcast, I use a pretty nice microphone.
Most Embarrassing Moment
Hmmmm, one thing I used to hate which I did at both FOX and VH1 was record “man on the street” bits. This would pretty much involve me going out with a microphone and asking random people random questions. While Times Square was always filled will plenty of ready and willing participants – New Yorkers weren’t as helpful. I was doing something outside of my comfort zone and I did not enjoy it.
Lowest Pay
First job out of college I was radio morning show producer making $14,000. Radio sucks.
Worst Holiday Gift or Bonus
Refer back to my worst boss. She gave the whole department Razor scooters. It came after a year of extremely long hours and hard work. She thought it was funny. I never got the joke. I returned it to K-mart for like $23 store credit. The worst part was every week she insisted we all use them to get around to meetings in the city. Jesus, what a mess that was.
Bonus: Your Typical Day
It takes me about 25 minutes to drive to work. I get in at 8:30am. I check my e-mail and usually post a blog entry that I’ve written before I left the house. At about 9am I settle in for my morning roll and agua. I’ll answer e-mails and organize myself for the day. Then I’ll jump into various projects. I take lunch from 1 – 2pm. I’m done by 4:30pm. Add in a health dose of Web surfing and there’s my day! Nice and easy, the way I like it!
