How To Find The Career That Is Best For You

career advice

It’s not as easy as it sounds, finding the direction that your career should go in. Some people are lucky, they know from early on what they want to do and pursue it, finding happiness and success in their chosen field.

However, statistically, most people will change their career path at least three times in their life – so if you’re not sure what you want to do just yet, you are certainly not alone, and this article may be able to give you a little bit more clarification. Answering the following questions may help:

What are you passionate about?

In order to have a successful career, you need to find a job that you are passionate about and driven by.

What are you good at?

It’s important to evaluate the skills that you have, which are important in revealing potential career paths. Perhaps you are a talented writer, which means that you could pursue a career in advertising, publishing or editing. Job search engines like Zigo will bring up all relevant job vacancies based on your qualifications and interests.

Undertake an internship

This is useful if you have just graduated, as you will be able to test the waters of the career that you are interested in.

Take a personality test

If you haven’t already taken a career assessment test, it might be a good idea to do so. These tests provide a bit of direction regarding the roles that are best suited for you, based on your interests and skills. You may be able to uncover your strengths and weaknesses using these assessments, which will help you to focus on those potential career paths that best suit your personality.

Research, research, research

Researching prospective jobs is essential – in order to make an informed decision, you need to know what is out there. You may come across an industry that you were never aware of before and that interests you. This research can be conducted in multiple ways – on the Internet, through networking events, by chatting to various people, or by finding a mentor who can facilitate the process.
