Some of the most successful people in the world had to fake something on their path to gaining everything. Success doesn’t just suddenly appear; it is created. So how do you create something out of nothing?
The spiritual savvy call it “manifestation”- think rich and you will be rich. Smile and you will be happy. Act confidently, and people will have confidence in you. But what if you’re not rich, happy or confident? Then what? You fake it… until it’s real.
Now I am not talking about creating a shallow façade for the sheer purpose of presentation. This is not about being “fake,” it is about being authentic, it’s about pulling your inner confidence out, then using a crutch to help hold you up until you can stand confidently without it. For many business leaders, heads of companies, individuals who have had profound success in their careers, that crutch has come in the form of a little, seemingly unimportant things or habits.
From power ties to good luck charms, even OCD tendencies like going out of your way to stop at the exact same Starbucks or tapping your finger three times on the doorway before entering a meeting that matters, we all have our go-to’s that help boost confidence, and induce (in our heads at least) a favorable outcome. But what if there was something that you could boost your luck, improve your confidence, and give you the desired leg up, something that actually works- and not just in your head. There is. It’s red panties (or boxers- for guys). Let me explain…
Feng Shui, which literally means “wind and water,” is an ancient Chinese system that helps promote harmony and the flow of positive energy or “chi.” The concept was created thousands of years ago in rural China out of necessity so that farmers could determine the best most fruitful places to build their homes. It has since evolved to empower, attract and promote everything from love to money. There are five elements in Feng Shui, each with a supporting color. The color red is the Fire element. It is strong and assertive, attracting luck, confidence, and prosperity. Adorn yourself with the color red and you too will be imbued with its attributes.
But you can’t always wear a glaring red suit, or even red shoes to a business meeting. So instead, I say wear red underwear. Yes, Power Panties! Forget the lucky locket or seemingly strange habit of counting to 10 with your fingers before beginning your power point presentation. You can even ditch the power tie. It’s time to try something that works. And that’s why I have an entire drawer filled with red Power Panties. I will not go to a meeting without wearing them. Power panties help me fake it if I’m not feeling it. They are that empowering crutch, that extra oomph that infuses me with confidence- even when I’m not feeling so poised. I slip on those bad boys, enter that meeting, and I’m on fire! And the great thing is, no one ever needs to know (except for all of you who are now reading this)…
