Choosing a Necktie That Fits YOU

Choosing a Necktie That Fits YOU

The fashion world has for a long time been a woman’s world. Now, men are getting to it and though a rather old piece of fashion, the necktie is getting more emphasis. Men are looking for ways to incorporate the right choice of neckties in their daily wear. Not only that, they also want to make the correct knots when it comes to tying these accessories.

Tying a necktie is an important art that every man concerned with his looks should learn. There are numerous how-tos and articles that will give you tips on how to do that right. But of most importance here and now, is the way you choose the necktie. This is where more emphasis should be placed.

The first thing you should be keen on is the type of fabric. Neckties should be attractive and attention getters. To make them so, you should go for fabrics that are shinny in nature. Satin or silk will give you the best of the shines but you should be keen to make sure that the fabric is 100% satin or silk.
The color of the fabric is the next consideration. Choose a color that matches your shirt and suit color. Remember that the tie should be conspicuous thus the color, although matching with that of the shirt and suit, should also be contrasting such that the necktie is visible.

Patterns on the necktie can go a long way to make the tie more attractive. If you find a tie whose colors in the patterns match those of your shirt and suit, then you should be considering that also. A good idea would be to have a tie whose pattern combines the color of your shirt and that of the suit. To make it better, you can choose a tie whose dominant color is similar to that of the suit and the less dominant color to match that of the shirt.

It is always easy to choose a tie when you intend to wear it with a white shirt. This is because any necktie color will go well with a white shirt. It is also easy if the shirt is plain colored. You can choose a tie that is of a similar color but of a different shade. A necktie with a brighter shade is usually better.
If you choose the right tie and fail on tying it, then you will have wasted all the efforts. The first and basic thing you should consider is your height. This is very important since you won’t want to have a tie that looks over-sized on you. Generally, the necktie should be long enough to just go beyond the belt. Do you need to be reminded that the inner part should be shorter that the outer part?
The knot you make should also be proportional to the size of the collar. Before making the knot, you should have the shirt fully buttoned. This will help you position the tie proportionally such that you do not seem asymmetrical.

No matter what you pick, whether it be for a formal or casual occasion, make sure you have fun with it and own the look!
