I am back at work after five solid days away. I’d like to tell you that my feet were kicked up and I was sipping gin and tonics on some remote island. The reality is, I just spend hour upon hour cleaning up other people’s filth and unpacking an endless sea of cardboard boxes. So far, all the home-owner cliches are coming true. I can’t say I wasn’t warned.
As fate would have it, every time I have less time for Jobacle, traffic trends upwards. Go figure.
I expect to settle back into a normal routine over the coming weeks, and that means a minimum of one new post every weekday. For now, here’s an update on what’s up in Jobacle Land…
- The inaugural Jobacle Resume Writing Challenge is over. Our crack staff are currently mulling over the final products and we will share that information sometime next week.
- Am I the only one who finds the adjustment of returning to work after several consecutive days off difficult? So much so, that I occasionally avoid taking off long stretches of time.
- Please say ‘hi’ to Job.com, who helps pay the bills.
- I’m happy to see so many career coaches, resume writers and HR types dropping by our little site. While we like to think we have something for everybody, we remain committed to folks who wish to make work better. We’d love to hear more from our fellow job seekers.
- The ‘economic crisis’ has put layoffs and budget cuts back into the spotlight. Andrew G.R.’s mommy believes that everything these days is short lived. What used to take years, now takes months – and so on. If she’s right, job prospects will be looking up again real soon.
- Jobacle traffic is on track for our biggest month since June. Keep on clickin’ and be sure to tell a friend – it’s good career karma.
- Many readers are aware that I have moved into a humble new abode. No longer will my surrounding neighbors have to hear my Working Podcast voice. Now with more space, I plan to build a small studio and bring you more Jobacle audio – and video – than ever before. Stay tuned.
- It’s National Boss Day. Does anyone care?
Above all, have a grrreat day at work!
